Outdoor festival style wedding in Yorkshire

We really couldn’t recommend Abbie and Lee more! Our wedding photos are everything we could have wished for and they capture our wedding day perfectly. From our first meeting onwards, Abbie and Lee’s friendly and relaxed approach put us completely at ease. They maintained regular email contact in the lead up to the wedding, and were an absolute pleasure to spend time with on the day. Thank you so much guys – we can’t thank you enough!

Let’s take it back to September when Lottie and Mike threw an outdoor festival style wedding in North Yorkshire. This day made us smile so much, we decided it had be the first wedding we blogged about this year! A day that for all the right reasons we will remember forever. As will their guests, even if the mad partying has caused the memory to be a little fuzzy in parts.

Dreaming of an outdoor festival style wedding

Ahead of their wedding Lottie & Mike dreamed of creating an outdoor festival style wedding, with live music, flowing drinks, festival flags and festoon lights. They wanted their day to feel relaxed, happy and less formal than a traditional style wedding.

They decided upon Crayke Manor in Yorkshire as their venue. An old converted horse stables with lush hanging greenery, corrugated steel arched roof and the opportunity to marry outdoors. A dreamy and idyllic setting for a festival themed wedding.

They hired lwevents wedding coordinator to keep the day running smoothly.

Side note – We 100% recommend that if you’re planning a ‘do it yourself’ wedding, go and get yourself a planner! You will not regret it. They’re there to discreetly keep the day running smoothly and to be on call for any hiccups. Take it from us, there will be time slippage and before you know it, without a planner you’ll be doing your speeches at 9pm and only getting an hour of dancing time before the band have to go home! Trust us, we’ve seen it.

Back to Lottie and Mike, they opted for long banquet style wooden tables for their meal. Deciding against table cloths and instead decorating the tables with rich greenery and textured glass vases. Their colour palette was burnt orange, peach and blush pink. It looked wonderful under the strings of festoon lights and gave off the exact festival vibes they were after.

Outdoor wedding ceremony

Lottie and Mike are the loveliest couple. Actually the loveliest ever! They made us feel so welcome throughout their whole wedding day. The guys started their day with a footy kick around, whilst the girls helped Lottie into her Ghost Orchid Bride wedding gown and her ‘out of this world’ Tilly Thomas Lux Crown. The sun came out which meant the pair were able to have a full outdoor ceremony with the festival flags and the old Crayke Manor house providing the backdrop.

Live acoustic music

Onto the reception, the wedding party enjoyed an open air drinks reception with live music from the incredible talented acoustic band The Twelve O’Clock Highs. There were cocktails and an outdoor photo booth with props for guests to enjoy.

As the sun started to set, the guests were seated and Lottie and Mike were announced into the room. It was apparent at that moment in time, just how much love was felt for these two. The noise from the applause and cheers literally lifted the roof. (Well not literally but you know what we mean!)

Soon after, everyone enjoyed a set of speeches which were so good! So so so good, they resulted in a full blown standing ovation.

Confetti cannons on the dance-floor

Continuing with their festival style wedding theme, the pair hired Drive to provide the live music for the evening celebrations. The evening started with a shower of confetti during the first dance and as the evening ticked by, the drinks flowed and the party got more and more wild.

There were guests on shoulders, questionable dance moves and an impromptu performance of Teenage Dirtbag from the couple themselves! There’s video footage out there somewhere. If you buy their videographer, Adam Wing Films, a drink, he might share it 😉

We couldn’t bear to leave so we stuck around to see the band’s final song and as we finally drove away, we heard the DJ strike up with more club tunes to take the last ones standing into the early hours.
